What a log book service means, why the work varies by vehicle, and what Cairns drivers should bring when booking.
The schedule is specific to your vehicle
A log book service follows the maintenance schedule set by the vehicle manufacturer for a particular model, engine and odometer reading. There is no universal checklist. The schedule may call for different inspections, fluid changes or replacement items at different intervals.
Typical service tasks
Depending on the vehicle and interval, scheduled work may include an engine oil and filter change, checks of fluid levels, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights and belts, plus inspections or replacements listed by the manufacturer. Some items are inspected at every visit; others are only due at particular kilometre or time milestones.
What to bring
Bring the service book or digital service history, odometer reading, and any notes about warning lights, noises, leaks or changes in how the car drives. Mention modifications, towing or repeated short trips if relevant, as the manufacturer may classify some use as severe operating conditions.
Ask what is due now
A clear service discussion should distinguish scheduled work from additional repairs. Ask which items are specified by the current service interval, what was inspected, and what can be monitored for a later visit. Keep the invoice and service record with the vehicle history.
